Knowing your system's hardware and software configurations is a pretty useful and important thing as it helps you to choose the right apps and add-ons for your computer.
In this post, I'm going to show you various different techniques to help you know your system's hardware and software configurations on Windows Operating System.

1. Basic info using the Settings App (Windows 10)
You can use the Settings app in Windows 10 in order to view very basic information about your computer such as RAM, Processor, System Architecture, OS Build info, etc.
1. To open Windows 10 Settings, press the key combination + I .
2. Now, once Settings is open, click on System.
3. Now, on the left hand side, locate About and click on it.
You'll get all the basic information such as What type of processor you have, How much RAM your system has got, Which version of Windows is running on your system, What your system architecture is (64-Bit in my case), etc.
Well, this information might not be sufficient for most of us, so let's move to a bit more detailed info.
2. System info using the 'System Properties Panel'
This will work on all the versions of Windows, unlike the previous method which was restricted to Windows 10.
We'll be using System Properties Panel to display the details of our computer.
1. Open This PC in Windows 10/8 or My Computer in older versions of Windows.
2. Now, right click anywhere in the blank portion of the screen.
3. In the context menu that appears, click on Properties.
The System Properties Panel will open. Here is all the essential details of your computer which most of us will want to know.
(Shortcut:- To open System Properties Panel, press + Pause .)
You'll get all the basic information such as What type of processor you have, How much RAM your system has got, Which version of Windows is running on your system, What is your system architecture(64-Bit in my case), Manufacturer of your System, etc.

3. Detailed System info using 'msinfo32'
If you want to know each and everything about your system in full depth, this section is ideal for you to spend time on.
It gives an in-depth information of your system, and you can share this information with anyone in the form of a text file.
1. Open Run by pressing + R .
2. Type msinfo32 and click OK.
The System Information Panel will open and you could see loads of information about your computer sectioned within different categories.
The categories are present in the left side of the panel.
You can select the desired category by clicking on the plus icon and read the corresponding details on the right side.
This will give you complete information regardless of the version of Windows you are using.
4. System info using 'Command Prompt'
If somehow you can't boot into Windows, and you want to know the system information, then you can do this using Command Prompt.
1. Open Run by pressing + R .
2. Now type cmd and click OK.
3. Now type systeminfo in Command Prompt, and press Enter.
It will take some time to scan your system, and will display almost everything about your system.
