Transfer files from an Android Device to any other device (Laptop/Tablet/Phone) without Internet

Sharing files from one device to another is one of the most essential things which we want in our lives. It saves time and effort of recreating the required files on the target device by simply creating a copy of the existing files on that device from the source device.

If we want to share files from an Android device to another Android device, or from an iOS device to another iOS device, then the process is very straight forward and easy. There are many applications available for this purpose. But what if we want to share files from an Android device to a computer or any other type of device without a USB cable? There aren't any straightforward method to do this.

So, in this post, we are going to learn how to share files from any android device to any other type of device in the simplest way, without the use of internet and USB cable.

So let's get started.

Share files from Android to any other device

1. Install WiFi FTP Server on the source Android Device. (sender device)

2. Turn on WiFi Hotspot on the source Android Device. (sender device)

3. Connect the receiver device to the sender device's Hotspot.

4. Open WiFi FTP Server app which we downloaded in Step 1.

5. Click on the Settings icon of the app.

6. Anonymous access is enabled by default. Click on it to disable.


7. Now we are ready. Press Back button to return to the home screen of the app and Click on 'Start' button.

8. It will ask for the permission to access files, so click ALLOW.

9. Now, note down the Server URL, Userid and Password.

10. Open web browser on the receiver device and write the Server URL in the address bar.

11. It will ask for the User Name and Password. Enter the Userid and Password that you noted in Step 9.

12. Now you have access to all the files from the sender device on the receiver device.

13. Navigate to the location, and click the files that you want. It may ask for User Name and Password multiple times.

14. The files will start to download as if you were downloading them from the internet.

15. You can access the downloaded files in the Downloads folder on the receiver device.

 

Advantages of this method:

  • Any type of device can receive the files.
  • Multiple devices can be connected to the sender device.
  • Very fast and reliable as it is WiFi based.
  • Secure mode of transfer due to password encrypted login.
  • User-id and password can be changed from within the app settings.
  • Nothing extra is required on the receiver device.
  • Very simple implementation.
